Love and Lupines is a floral design studio based in Truckee, CA. We have been creating stunning floral arrangements for weddings and other special events since 2015. In 2020, we moved into a spacious working studio warehouse, which is equipped with energy-efficient coolers, wedding-specific rentals, and ample working space. Our studio has everything we need to bring a beautiful wedding to life, including a team of experienced floral designers who have been working in the Tahoe/Truckee area for decades.
We take pride in our fleet of spacious cargo vans, which allows us to deliver anything anywhere, ensuring that your flowers arrive fresh and on time. Our team specializes in creating magic in challenging environments, such as windy and unpredictable weather conditions. We are committed to sustainability, supporting our local community, family, and continued education to stay updated with the latest trends and practices. We love to give back to our community and try new things, taking inspiration from our surroundings and turning them into works of art.
Love and Lupines Floral Design takes its name from the stunning wildflower that can be found growing throughout California and the surrounding lakes, including Lake Tahoe. Our founder was inspired after experiencing a family photo shoot, with her very young son, in the midst of a lupine bloom. She was filled with a deep sense of love and appreciation for her family and the natural beauty of her home, and knew that Love and Lupines was the perfect name for her small business.

Meghon Shrewsbury
Owner
Born and raised in California, Meghon has called Truckee home since 2002.
Favorite vacation spots: Maui, Mendocino and Monterey. I am a sucker for the ocean, it refreshes, grounds me, and fills me with inspiration.
Favorite things: My family, Labrador retrievers, sunrise and sunset, snowboarding, paddle boarding, mountain biking, hiking, flowers, a snowy day, the sound of rain, human kindness, indie hip hop, walking through a field of lupines, sitting by the river, walking my dogs, traveling.
Favorite flowers: lupines, lilacs, dahlias, feather celosia, ranunculus of all kinds, and anything in the wild or grown on a farm.
Weddings and flowers, what can I say, I love them! Hi, I’m Meghon. I started Love and Lupines in 2015 with a lot of passion in my heart, a vision to create beautiful florals around Tahoe's premier venues, and a drive to reach new levels of design. It started with just me and a small cooler in my garage. I had no idea back then that I would be here now. Love and Lupines has been a true dream come true. I moved to Truckee in 2002 and started working as the wedding and event manager at Sugar Bowl Resort. I learned so many wonderful things during my time there, one of them being floral design and that I had an incredible passion for flowers. I was inspired to start this business after having my second child; being a mom gave me the courage I needed to try something new and I’m so glad I did. I now have an awesome warehouse and shop in town and the most inspiring team of people to help me on this journey. I have been blessed to create for hundreds of couples over the years, and I am always shocked and in awe of the things we get to create, the visions we help bring to life, and this wonderful world of flowers I get to live in. Truckee itself is a magical place which inspires me daily. My husband and I now have three kids and we’re so lucky to get to raise them here. When I’m not flowering, I enjoy spending time with my kids, snowboarding, mountain biking, hiking, gardening, and hanging out with our Labradors.

Alyssa Beltran
Wedding Communication Specialist
Alyssa is the glue that keeps us all together and thriving. She is a wizard with proposals, design boards and timelines. When you reach out to Love and Lupines with a wedding inquiry Alyssa will be the one to greet you and helps us gather all of your information to put together the perfect proposal. She helps walk all of our couples through the planning and design process so that our team can bring the vision to life. Alyssa grew up in Ventura, ca and attend Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo where she obtained an English degree. She moved to the Tahoe area in 2013 and has been a local ever since. Before joining our team she was involved in leadership in hospitality at Everline Resort and Spa (formerly Resort at Squaw Creek) and The Ritz Carlton for 9 years (consisting of: Banquet Manager, Assistant Director of Food and Beverage, and Director of Food and Beverage). All of this incredible experience has made her an invaluable part of our team! Alyssa enjoys skiing, yoga, astrology, biking, basketball, hiking, camping, sunshine, snow days, hot cups of tea, wood-burning fireplaces, live music, traveling, family-time, being outdoors.

Shela Pickrell
Wedding Manager & One of Our Top Designers
Shela has been with us for two years and brings so much of the good stuff to our team! She is kind, patient, creative, and never afraid to try new things. Shela thinks outside the box and is great at problem-solving, which is a very valuable skill in the floral and event world.
Shela has a great eye for detail, floral combos, and excels at learning new designs. Her favorite flowers are ranunculus, hellebore, and delphinium. She has a passion for creating through pottery, music, and art in all forms. She enjoys spending time with her three kids; teaching them and being present with them outside.
Shela was born and raised in Reno, NV, and although she enjoys traveling to far away lands, she would not live anywhere else. In the words of Shela, “Everything feels different in the High Sierra; the four seasons and the way the sun hits the mountains making them blue, pink, and purple. Living here makes you appreciate every living thing in this desolate high desert.”

Studio Manager
Sam is a ray of sunshine, exuding kindness, thoughtfulness, and calmness. Her talents are many, making her a valuable addition to our team as the manager of our retail space and daily delivery operations. Her expertise in houseplants and store merchandising is extensive, and her floral design skills are equally impressive, especially when it comes to creating beautiful wedding sets. Over the years, we've watched her hone her talents and become a true master of her craft. In fact, we are convinced that there's nothing she can't do once she sets her mind to it!
Outside of work, Sam enjoys roller skating, hiking, swimming, writing, crafting, knitting, sewing, painting, and reading. She also has a talent for herbalism and keeps our team stocked with the most amazing tinctures and salves for our dry, overworked hands. We feel incredibly fortunate to have Sam on our team and are endlessly grateful for all that she does!

Sara Somervel
One of Our Talented Lead Designers
Sara is a bold, authentic, courageous, delightful, creative free spirit. She has a wealth of flower knowledge, teaching us all new things every day. She has been with me since the early days and I love the fact that she is still here, learning and creating alongside me. Her favorite flowers are nigella, love in the mist, yellow freesia, ipomoea, and morning glory. Working with flowers and creating makes her heart flutter. Sara fell in love with Tahoe at the age of 16, when visiting with her dad for a snowboarding trip. Coming over the crest of I80 felt like coming home, and she knew she would be here to stay. She now has two beautiful children that she loves raising in the Truckee community, while chasing adventures, the sun, being in the crystal waters of Lake Tahoe, and watching the incredible cotton candy sunsets. Sara enjoys gardening, yoga, snowboarding, and making jewelry, with an eye for detail and finding beauty in the simplest of things. If there is a heart shape in something, you can be sure Sara will find it.
